Wisdom from a classic fllm: CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (1945) wiith BARBARA STANWYCK
One of my favorite quotes of all time is at 4:15:
“You know, Felix, it’s very important to keep promises, especially to yourself.”
--Journalist Elizabeth Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) to Felix Bassenak (S.Z. Sakall), Hungarian restaurateur
Glad to see/hear this again in it's original form at the start of a new decade.
I doubt many of us have promised ourselves mink coats, but I challenge you to keep whatever promises you make to yourself in 2010.

Quantz Concerto in G Major for Flute and Strings: Presto
I hope you enjoy this performance by The Hanover Band with Director Roy Goodman and Rachel Brown, traverso (note: pitch is lower than modern flute).
Excellent tempo, phrasing direction, feeling of meter, and ornaments.
May it serve as a last minute inspiration to North Carolina High School students to hear this performance before District Band auditions!
To learn more about Rachel Brown and to hear more of her fine playing, please visit her website: http://www.rachelbrownflute.com/
